Can obesity and type 2 diabetes prevented through 'good' baby fat? Well, a new study claims that it is possible to prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes through ‘good baby fat’.
The research was conducted by Joslin Diabetes Center, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The study has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
They conducted the study on 2,000 adults to look for “brown fat”, which burns calories generating heat and keeping the body warm. It was earlier believed that the “good baby fat” existed only in children but the researches have found that it exists in adults. They found 7.5 per cent brown fat deposits in women and three per cent in men.
The researchers also found that the deposit of good baby fat was higher in persons who were fatter. The researchers believe that the findings can help in treating obesity and type-2 diabetes.
