The proponents of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) say that the magical drug diet helps in weight loss even as many concerns have been raised against it.
The Human Chorionic Gonadotropin magical drug diet is a combination of low-calorie diet and use of HCG weight-loss products.
HCG is a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy. This HCG helps the body to metabolize fat as an energy source for the growth and nourishment of the baby.
The use of HCG in weight loss has been credited to British endocrinologist A T W Simeons. In 1954, he first discussed the use of this hormone as a diet drug while studying pregnant women on a very low-calorie diet in India.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, there is no substantial evidence that the hormone aids weight loss beyond the caloric restriction. It has also been not proved if it effectively decreases hunger and causes discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diet.
